HOW CAN I BOOK A GROUP SURF LESSON WITH SALTY WAVE?

To book a surf lessons package with saltywavesurfschool, simply send us a WhatsApp message to let us know which package or surf lesson option you are interested or just book directlly on line on our booking button. Once you have selected your package, we will ask you for some details of the participant. To secure your booking, we require a 100% or 50% deposit of the total amount, you can chose with wich makes more confortable. Our online booking system is through WhatsApp or  Fareharbour to make the process easy and convenient for you. We look forward to helping you catch some waves!

WHAT INCLUDES A SURF SESSION?

Our surf daily pack at saltywavesurfschool includes a 2.5-hour lesson, a wetsuit, a surfboard, and beach transfer for the price of 65 € per person per day. If you book for more than 3 days, a discount will be provided. Our pick up time is between 8:00 to 9:00, depending on your location, as we rely on wave and tide conditions for safety reasons. Please note that the pick up time may vary to ensure the best and safest surfing experience for our students. With our comprehensive package and flexible pick-up times, we strive to provide an enriching and safe experience for all our surfers.

WHAT SURF LEVELS DO YOU TEACH?

Group surf lessons - beginners only:

At saltywavesurfschool, we aim to provide the best surfing experience tailored to your individual skill level. To determine your surfing level, consider the following descriptions:

Level 1 - Beginner 1st timer: This level is for those who have never surfed before or have had a short surf experience. Our instructors will focus on teaching you the fundamentals of surfing in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring that you can start in this exciting sport with confidence.

Level 2 - Beginner:  surfed before: If you have some experience with surfing but still consider yourself a beginner, this level is for you. Our instructors will build on your existing knowledge and skills, helping you improve and progress in the sport.

By understanding your surfing level, we can ensure that you have the best experience with us. Whether you are a first-timer or have some experience, our goal is to provide personalized, quality instruction that meets your specific needs and helps you advance as a surfer.

Private Surf Lessons – Beginner or Intermediate

t Salty Wave Surf School, our private surf lessons are tailored to your individual level and goals. We offer instruction for both beginners and intermediate surfers.

Beginner Level: - Perfect if you’ve never surfed before or are still learning the basics—like standing up, paddling, and catching small whitewater waves.

Intermediate Level: - Ideal if you’re already comfortable standing on the board and can catch small green (unbroken) waves on your own.
 We’ll help you improve your technique, including:

• Positioning in the line-up
 • Timing and wave selection
 • Angle take-offs
 • Trimming and basic turns
 • Reading conditions and improving paddle power
To prepare your lesson if intermediate , please let us know:
 • Your surfing experience (how many times you’ve surfed and where)
 • Whether you can already catch green waves or are still in the whitewater
 • The board type and size you're used to (if any)
 • Any goals or specific things you'd like to work on

NOTE: on private lesson we cannot teach 2 diferent levels at the same time

WHAT TO BRING FOR THE SURF LESSON?

To ensure you have a great time at your surf lesson with saltywavesurfschool, please bring a beach towel, comfortable swimwear, sunscreen, and a big desire to surf and have fun. We also recommend bringing a bottle of water and a backpack to carry your water, snack, phone, wallet, and a change of clothes to the beach so that you have everything you need and can keep your hands free to carry the surfboard. With these items, you'll be well-prepared for your surf lesson and ready to catch some waves!

CAN I CHOOSE THE DAYS I WANT TO HAVE THE NEXT SURF LESSONS?

Yes, always! For the 1 or 2 days surf lessons, you can choose the days that work best for you. If you opt for the 3, 4, or 5 days surf lessons to benefit from the package discount, the lessons must be scheduled on consecutive days. This is, of course, subject to availability. Additionally, if you desire extra surf lessons, we always strive to accommodate our students to ensure that no one is left out.

IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE FOR SURF LESSONS?

The minimum age requirement for participating in lessons at saltywavesurfschool is 14 years old. We believe that it is essential for students to have reached a certain level of physical and cognitive development to ensure their safety and enjoyment while learning how to surf. Our instructors are trained to provide a supportive and engaging environment for students of this age group, allowing them to develop their skills and confidence in the water.

CAN I USE MY OWN MATERIAL ON YOUR SURF LESSONS?

All necessary materials, including wetsuits, are included in our surf lesson packages at saltywavesurfschool. While you are welcome to use your own wetsuit, our surfboards are provided and must be used during the lessons, as they are specifically designed for teaching purposes. Our lesson price is all-inclusive, so if you choose to use your own wetsuit, we are not able to offer a reduction in rate. Rest assured that our well-maintained equipment and experienced instructors are geared towards providing you with the best possible learning experience in the water.

Additionally, our private lessons provide a more intimate setting for learning, allowing for increased focus and attention on your specific goals. Whether you're a beginner looking to master the basics or an intermediate surfer aiming to perfect your technique, our private lessons will help you achieve your surfing aspirations.

WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE TO THE PICK UP POINT?

We understand the importance of efficient and timely pick up for our clients. We will provide you with pick up details, including the time and location, until 20:00 PM the day before after closing all the bookings. We kindly ask that you be at the pick up point at least 5 minutes earlier as we can only wait for a maximum of 5 minutes. This is because we have to pick up other clients as well, and if you are late, we will unfortunately consider you as a NO-SHOW, with no opportunity for rescheduling or refund. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to providing you with a memorable surf experience

WILL YOU PICK ME UP AT MY ACCOMODATION?

we provide transportation to the beach for our surf lessons. After receiving your accommodation details, we will pick you up at one of our pick up points closest to your accomodation in Lagos, Praia da Luz, or Burgau. If you are staying in a different location, we will arrange a meeting point where you can leave your car, and from there, we will transport you to the beach for your surf lesson. Our goal is to ensure that getting to the beach for your surfing experience is convenient and hassle-free, so you can focus on enjoying the waves.

DO YOU TEACH INTERMEDIATE LEVEL?

For intermediate surf level we offer only private surf lessons using hybrid surf boards, as per government safety regulations for surf schools. These boards are made of epoxy covered with a layer of soft material, providing a safe and comfortable learning experience for our students. Our private lessons cater to individuals who want personalized instruction and attention, ensuring that each student receives the guidance they need to progress in their surfing journey.

CAN I MEET YOU AT THE BEACH?

Yes, you can meet us at the beach, and the specific beach location will be provided to you until 20:00 of the day before your lesson. Please note that due to our dependency on tides and wave conditions, the beach location may change in the morning. In that case, you will receive a WHATSAPP message with the new beach location. Rest assured that we will keep you informed and ensure you have all the necessary information to join us for an amazing surf experience.  Additionally, the surf lesson price with saltywavesurfschool is all-inclusive, so if you go with your own transport, the cost remains the same. We strive to make the surf experience as convenient and enjoyable as possible for all our clients

CAN I KEEP THE SURF EQUIPMENT AFTER THE LESSONS?

While you cannot keep the surf equipment after the lessons, you do have the option to continue practicing after the lessons by utilizing our surf rental service at our shop in Praia da Luz. With the surf rental service, you can choose the best option for you, whether it's a surfboard, wetsuitand soft roofracks for your car so you can surf anywere in the Algarve. about our surf rentals, please visit our website or inquire at our shop. WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?

At saltywavesurfschool, we understand that plans can change, so we strive to offer a flexible cancelation policy. If you need to cancel a surf lesson, we ask that you provide at least48hours notice to receive a full refund of the deposit. For cancelations made within 24 hours of the scheduled lesson time, we offer a 50% refund of the deposit, less then 24h cancelation no refund will be provided. In the event of unforeseen circumstances or extreme weather conditions (ligthning storms), we will work with you to reschedule your lesson at no additional cost. We believe in providing our customers with the best possible experience, and our cancelation policy reflects our commitment to accommodating our clients while also respecting the time and effort of our instructors. We strongly recommend that all guests take out comprehensive travel insurance before their trip. This should cover any unforeseen circumstances that may prevent you from attending your scheduled surf lesson or holiday.

Please note that no refunds will be issued due to:
 • Illness or injury – please contact your travel insurance provider in these cases.
 • Personal fatigue or change of plans.
 • Missed flights, buses, trains, or hotel bookings – these are not the responsibility of Salty Wave Surf School.
 • ​Salty Wave Surf School reserves the right to modify or cancel lessons due to adverse weather or ocean conditions.
In such cases, customers will be offered the choice of a full refund or a gift voucher of equal value, which can be used to reschedule the experience at a later date.

WERE DO THE LESSONS TAKE PLACE?

We are conveniently located just a 5-minute drive from Lagos, providing easy access to the closest beaches and surf spots. During the summer months, we usually head to the west coast, which is about a 40-minute drive from our location. This allows our students to experience a variety of surf conditions and environments, ensuring a well-rounded and diverse learning experience
