General Terms & Conditions

 

Pick-up/ drop off and lesson time and courses conditions

  • The schedule for client pick-up (in the agreed spot, either partner location or a place that is appropriate for us). Monday to Saturday.

  • Our surf daily pack includes; 2:30 min of lesson, wetsuit and surfboard and beach transfer, if you chose for a pack more then 3 days a discount will be provided.

  • If the client would like to go with their own car , no discount will be provided as beach transfer is included and it is not part of our service, but just a way to get there.

Surf Lessons conditions​

  • On the option of the 3 days  course must be in a row for the discount to be applied,

  • On the option of the 4 days course must be in a row for the discount to be applied,

  • Our Group surf lessons are for 1st timers or beginners, if intermediate we can tach but only on private lesson,

  • On the option of  the 5 days course must be in a row for the discount to be applied,

  • Your group may be divided based on surf ability and where possible we will find surf conditions to suit the group.

  • Salty Wave Surf School is not responsible and will not reimburse a student if surf classes cannot occur due to adverse weather and ocean conditions (e.g flat ocean, excessive wave size, fog, strong winds, etc). Nevertheless, in these rare cases Salty Wave Surf School will make an alternative plan, for example a theoretical class, surf related trip, etc.

  • Clients are strictly required to follow the instructions of their teacher. Always keep the safety rules. In the case of injury inform your teacher without any delay.

  • If you wish to take a rest day, you must inform the Manager 24 hours in advance to check availability. If you are expected for surfing and do not show up you will be charged.

Under 16 surf lessons conditions​

  • We only teach  from age 14+, if clients are under 16 years old a parent or tutor should drive them be present at the beach for the time of the lesson as we are not allowed by portuguese law to transport clients under 16 years without the presence of an adult responsible for the youg clients. Our transport has limeted spots for surfers clients, so we cannot take the adult in our van, if in any case there is a spot available we could provide the adult transport but we only know the day before after closing all the bookings ( until 20:00).

Booking conditions

  • All bookings are made via website/ whatsapp or in “loco” at our shop

  • Full payment is due at the time of booking. This can be taken in the form of Cash (in our shop), Credit/ Debit card or paypal in our website. The person making the booking accepts responsibility for payment for everyone on the booking and is responsible for ensuring that all other persons on the booking read the Terms and Conditions and that they are aware of the booking details.

  • If you need to change your booking dates?
    Salty Wave School will make every effort to arrange any changes requested after the booking and been confirmed, always depending on availabilit.

Cancellations, Refunds & Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend that all guests take out comprehensive travel insurance before their trip. This should cover any unforeseen circumstances that may prevent you from attending your scheduled surf lesson or holiday.

Cancellation & Refund Policy:

  • A 100% refund of the paid amount is provided for cancellations made at least 48h before bookings close (bookings close the evening before the scheduled activity).

  • A 50% refund of the paid amount is provided for cancellations made at least 24hours before bookings close.

  • No refund will be issued for cancellations made less than 24 hours before the start of the activity.

  • No refund in case of no-shows or early departures.

Reservations may be rescheduled, subject to availability, without any loss of payment.

Please note that no refunds will be issued due to:

  • Illness or injury – please contact your travel insurance provider in these cases.

  • Personal fatigue or change of plans.

  • Missed flights, buses, trains, or hotel bookings – these are not the responsibility of Salty Wave Surf School.

  • Salty Wave Surf School reserves the right to modify or cancel lessons due to adverse weather or ocean conditions.
    In such cases, customers will be offered the choice of a full refund or a gift voucher of equal value, which can be used to reschedule the experience at a later date.

 

Travel Insurance:

We highly recommend that you:

  • Obtain valid travel insurance that covers cancellations, delays, accidents, and health issues.

  • Carry an up-to-date EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) if eligible.

Our insurance only covers injuries that occur during the surf activity. We are not responsible for incidents outside of our lessons.

 

Personal Belongings:

While we strive to provide a safe environment, Salty Wave Surf School is not responsible for any loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings. Guests are fully responsible for their own items throughout the experience.

Surf Equipment

  • We have a wide range of boards available to you for the surf lessons or for rent.

  • We have a large range wetsuits, 4/3mm and 3/2mm. You’re welcome to bring you own, however there is NO discount for this.

  • You are responsible for your board and wetsuit. You will be require to wash you wetsuit and board without sand.

Surf Equipment rentals

  • As guarantee shall be left an identification card (Passport, Citizen Card or Driving License) or a deposit per item which will be returned when you return the equipment.

  • All rented surf equipment shall be returned clean and free of sand.

  • By renting the surf equipment you agree that  you are responsible for damages to third parties.

  • All surf equipment must be returned in the same condition as when was rented out.

Repairs:

  • Surfboard depending on the damage, repair may cost from € 30 to € 180

  • Loss or broken fins- € 25 / each

  • Broken Leash - € 20

  • Loss of surfboard - € 350

  • Wetsuit depending on the damage, repair may cost from € 30 to € 150

  • Loss of wetsuit - € 150

  • To extend the time or date of delivery of the rented surf equipment you will have to notify us. If you dont delivery the equipment on time an extra full day will be charged (per day).

​Public Liability

  • Surfing, is a sports that carries a certain degree of risk both to people and property. It is also a physically activity that requires those taking part to have a reasonable standard of swimming and fitness.

  • All customers must make us aware of any medical conditions, illnesses or allergies they may have and any prescribed medication they are taking on the booking form at the time of booking.

  • No one should participate in a surfing lesson if they are suffering from a heart condition or if they are pregnant. All customers must not be under the influence of any alcohol, drugs or medication at the time of the lesson which may have a significant adverse affect their physical or mental abilities.

  • All customers must agree to abide by all instructions and decisions that Salty Wave Surf School and its instructors make in order to secure the safety and comfort of all participants.

  • Customer will have the use of Salty Wave School equipment during their lesson times only.

  • We take all reasonable measures to ensure the safety and good condition of that equipment, customers are responsible for immediately reporting any damage caused to the equipment or which becomes apparent whilst the equipment is in their possession.

  • Salty WaveSurf School not seek to limit or exclude any liability for personal injury or loss of life which may occur as a result of its own negligence or that of its employees, officers or agents however, Salty Wave Surf School assumes no liability in respect of any personal injury, loss, damage, consequential loss or third party claims which occur through no fault of its own, its employees.

  • All other liability or conditions implied by law are excluded to the fullest extent possible.
